Overview
Our client is a leading IPP in South Africa’s renewable energy landscape, based in Cape Town. This role is a 12 month contract in the Western Cape.

This role sits within the Project and Construction Management function and is site-based for the duration of construction.
The Site Civils Supervisor supports the Site Superintendent during the execution phase of renewable energy projects, with a primary focus on civil balance of plant and grid interconnection works.
The position exists to ensure that contractors deliver against specification, programme, quality and safety requirements during construction and commissioning.
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate and supervise civil construction works during execution and commissioning phases.
- Monitor contractor progress against programme, identifying risks related to overlapping or clashing activities.
- Interrogate contractor planning and mitigation measures where sequencing or access risks arise.
- Oversee on-site quality control activities, including witnessing inspections and tests in line with approved ITPs and Quality Control Plans.
- Enforce compliance with project specifications, standards, approved procedures, ESMS requirements, IFC Standards and Equator Principles.
- Maintain detailed site records including daily logs, observations, weather conditions, photographs and delay tracking.
- Review and verify contractor progress claims, applying earned value assessment where required.
- Support punch listing, close-out activities and verification of as-built documentation prior to final completion.
- Liaise with site leadership, HSE, quality, commissioning teams and relevant authorities where required.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering preferred, or equivalent engineering qualification with extensive relevant experience.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience as a Site Supervisor within infrastructure or renewable energy projects.
- Demonstrated experience supervising civil balance of plant or grid interconnection works.
- Proven exposure to renewable energy construction (solar, wind, biomass or hydro preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of construction quality control procedures, inspection and test plans and contractor compliance management.
- Experience reviewing contractor progress claims and understanding earned value principles.
- Ability to work site-based for the full construction phase.
- Willingness to travel within the Africa region if required.
- South African citizenship preferred.
