Overview
Our client is a leading local IPP in South Africa’s renewable energy landscape, based in Cape Town, with an enviable culture and a forward-thinking, employee-focused environment.
This role plays a critical part in bid execution, tariff setting, financial modelling, and capital raising across the project lifecycle, working closely with senior stakeholders across finance, development, legal, technical, and asset management functions.
What You’ll Do
- Build, maintain, and analyse complex project finance models for renewable energy projects, including valuations, forecasting, tariff setting, and risk analysis
- Perform detailed scenario and sensitivity analysis to assess project feasibility and bid competitiveness
- Support bid submissions through robust financial modelling and financial documentation
- Conduct financial due diligence on new project opportunities, validating assumptions and inputs
- Prepare lender-, investor-, and management-facing financial analysis, reports, and presentations
- Support project structuring to optimise returns and ensure bankability
- Provide financial and commercial input into key project agreements and supporting documentation
- Support tariff analysis through market benchmarking and competitor pricing assessments
- Manage defined project finance workstreams through bidding and financial close
- Collaborate closely with internal teams including Business Development, Transactions, Legal, Technical, Strategic Procurement, and Asset Management
- Stay informed on renewable energy market trends, regulatory developments, and policy changes
What We’re Looking For
- Postgraduate qualification in Finance and/or Economics
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a similar project finance or renewable energy financial analyst role
- Minimum overall working experience 4-6 years.
- Proven experience building and analysing complex financial models
- Strong understanding of project finance principles, financial analysis, and risk assessment
- Advanced Excel capability
- Strong PowerPoint and Word skills
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Strong communication and presentation ability, with confidence engaging senior internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent deliverables in a deadline-driven environment
