Overview
A leading renewable energy developer is seeking a Land Acquisition Manager to oversee land identification, acquisition, and permitting for utility-scale solar, wind, and hydro projects across South Africa and selected African markets. This role is central to early-stage development, with a focus on stakeholder engagement, contractual negotiations, and ensuring land readiness for project implementation.
What You’ll Do
- Identify suitable land for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, hydro) in South Africa and internationally.
- Negotiate, draft, and manage lease agreements, purchases, and servitudes/wayleaves with landowners.
- Develop mapping and layout overlays aligned with project designs using GIS tools.
- Secure and manage all land-related permits and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Maintain regular communication with new and existing landlords, building long-term relationships.
- Resolve any issues related to landlords, land access, or permitting that may impact project progress.
- Manage third-party consultants and land acquisition specialist.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders throughout the development process.
- Support bid preparation processes with accurate land data and permitting documentation.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Spatial Planning (Honours).
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in site acquisition or land development.
- Proven expertise in land negotiations, lease drafting, and permitting for infrastructure or energy projects.
- Strong GIS capabilities and experience with layout mapping.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Fluent in English (read, write, speak).
- Ability to travel as required and manage projects across multiple regions.
