Overview

This full-time position forms part of the Asset Management team, supporting the management of a diverse portfolio of renewable energy projects from financial close through construction and operations. The role is based at the company’s Cape Town headquarters and is responsible for full-spectrum financial control across project companies, ensuring accurate accounting, compliance, reporting, and stakeholder coordination throughout the project lifecycle.

 

What You’ll Do

 

     Manage accounting for project companies including:

  • Revenue recognition and customer invoicing.
  • Cost management and control.
  • Fixed and intangible asset registers (additions, disposals, depreciation).
  • Loan register maintenance (drawdowns, repayments, interest).
  • Accounting estimates and accruals.
  • Tax and payroll journal entries.
  • Monthly reconciliations: bank, supplier, customer, tax, loans, assets.
  • Quarterly foreign currency revaluations.
  • Updating transactions and journals on the accounting system.
  • Maintain and update the project data room.
  • Ensure tax compliance and assist tax advisors in compiling and reviewing PAYE, VAT, NSSF, and WHT returns.
  • Review provisional and annual income tax and VAT returns.
  • Coordinate annual audits and assist in meeting financial reporting timelines as per finance documents.
  • Prepare and review monthly management accounts, quarterly reporting packs, and support preparation of Annual Financial Statements.
  • Assist in stakeholder reporting obligations including funders, shareholders, and board members.
  • Support compliance with project documentation: PPAs, DCUoSAs, IAs, and regulatory contracts.
  • Manage EPC and O&M contract interfaces and related financial administration.
  • Oversee shareholder obligations including equity injections and shareholder loan management.
  • Administer debt drawdowns from lenders (prepare utilisation requests) and manage repayments, interest, dividends, and redemptions.
  • Prepare and update monthly cashflow projections in collaboration with Treasury.
  • Interpret financial models for construction budget management and operational covenant compliance.
  • Monitor cost control and prepare annual budgets.
  • Support ongoing construction-phase business operations, especially contract compliance and third-party relationships.
  • Implement governance and statutory reporting procedures to support financial close readiness.
  • Administer and ensure compliance for all project agreements including investor reporting and fund management.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Business Law, or a similar discipline.
  • Participation in a CPA (Certified Practicing Accountants) or CA (Chartered Accountants) program will be beneficial.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ work experience in a similar project finance or accounting role.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse complex financial datasets and draw actionable conclusions.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel; experience with Caseware, Pastel, Oracle, or Sage is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy sector finance is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
