Overview
A saught after IPP is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the execution of a 240 MW solar project in Virginia, Free State. This is a high-impact role responsible for managing all phases of the project lifecycle—from pre-financial close through to construction, commissioning, and final handover. The role acts as Owner’s Representative under the EPC contract and ensures alignment with PPA obligations, lender requirements, and internal governance procedures.
What You’ll Do
- Lead project planning, execution, and reporting from development through to taking-over, in accordance with internal procedures and stakeholder agreements.
- Act as the primary interface with EPC contractors, suppliers, consultants, Eskom, and site-based teams to ensure quality, budget, and timeline targets are achieved.
- Oversee EPC contract negotiation, execution, and compliance; support O&M contract finalisation.
- Manage project documentation, milestone certification, stakeholder reporting, and variation claims.
- Coordinate all due diligence inputs (technical, legal, insurance) required for financial close.
- Monitor compliance with land lease agreements, ESMS, ED obligations, and relevant statutory permits (EIA, water use, building).
- Supervise site-based personnel including HSE, QA/QC, environmental officers, and commissioning teams.
- Manage the Construction Management Agreement (MSA) and ensure alignment with all related contracts (PPA, DuCOSA, CTA, Self-Build, etc.).
- Conduct progress meetings, manage punch lists, and oversee project closeout and document handover.
What We’re Looking For
- Tertiary qualification in engineering, construction, or related field.
- SACPCMP registration preferred.
- Proven track record managing large-scale solar projects in South Africa.
- Strong command of EPC contract structures, lender obligations, and project execution methodologies.
- Ability to lead diverse on-site teams and interface confidently with senior stakeholders.
- Highly organised, assertive, and detail-oriented with excellent reporting and planning skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
