Overview

An international frontrunner in infrastructure development is launching one of South Africa’s most ambitious battery energy storage systems (BESS) initiatives. This position supports the OASIS project, which aims to provide cutting-edge energy storage solutions to enhance grid stability and accelerate the transition to renewable power. The civil supervisor will contribute to the technical delivery and project milestones across assigned sites.

What You’ll Do

• Assist the Manager of Engineering Management Department to do the preliminary operation of engineering projects.
• Assist the Project Manager in preparing for the start of the project.
• Participate in the review of tender information and documents and evaluation of tenders for civil engineering works and make reasonable recommendations.
• Responsible for on-site Q&A with bidders on civil construction.
• Participate in the review of drawings and design disclosure work, and be responsible for organizing, signing and issuing the minutes of disclosure. Track and handle the issues raised during the drawing review.
• Review the "Civil Construction Organization Design/Plan" and "Construction Supervision Plan"
• Responsible for reviewing the major technical measures and economic plans in the "Civil Construction Organization Design/Plan" and putting forward review comments.
• Review the application of new technologies, new materials, and new processes in the Construction Organization Design/Plan for Civil and Decoration Engineering, as well as the factors that may cause changes in the construction period, cost, etc.
• Responsible for reviewing the civil engineering change requests put forward by various units related to civil engineering.
• Control the construction quality of civil engineering in accordance with the project quality supervision plan and relevant specifications and standards. Inspect and assess the quality completion status of the contractor and the supervision unit, and put forward adjustment opinions.
• Supervise and inspect the progress of civil engineering projects in accordance with the project construction plan, and propose adjustment opinions based on the actual situation.
• Participate in the project coordination meeting and supervision regular meeting, raise and understand the problems that occur during the civil construction process of the project, conduct research and discussion, and propose solutions.
• Responsible for inspecting the quality of civil construction materials, construction machinery and equipment, and construction teams.
• Inspect the unqualified items in the civil engineering project and put forward handling opinions.
• Responsible for implementing inspections and keeping records of project signage requirements.
• Responsible for the completion acceptance of civil engineering projects.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in a similar role on utility-scale BESS, energy, or infrastructure projects
• 3-5 years’ experience in Civil Engineering in solar or BESS projects
• Ability to operate on remote project sites (Mookodi)
• Strong technical competence and familiarity with compliance and quality frameworks
• ASAP Availability
