Overview

A well-established entity in the renewable energy sector is seeking a technically strong Financial Manager to oversee accounting operations across a portfolio of infrastructure assets. The role is pivotal in ensuring accurate financial reporting, process optimisation, and compliance with regulatory standards. This is a leadership-level role reporting directly to the Director of Asset Management and includes responsibility for team supervision, systems oversight, and interfacing with internal project controllers and external auditors.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and manage a team of Accountants and Bookkeepers, providing mentorship, performance reviews, and training support.
  • Oversee trial balance accounting, including journal entries, bank matching, customer invoicing, credit notes, asset register updates, and loan schedules.
  • Review and approve VAT, WHT, and reverse charge VAT workings and returns.
  • Prepare provisional tax estimates and annual income tax calculations for multiple entities.
  • Function as audit liaison and central point for audit readiness and compliance.
  • Oversee forex payment approvals and supplier payment reviews for operational project companies.
  • Review monthly financial schedules, quarterly management accounts, and analytical commentary.
  • Enforce departmental accounting standards and ensure alignment with broader company practices.
  • Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting and adherence to audit and documentation deadlines.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • CA(SA) or Chartered Management Accountant with a post-graduate qualification in accounting.
  • Minimum 3 years’ post-articles experience in a relevant financial environment.
  • Experience working in renewable energy, engineering, construction, or infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to manage teams and coordinate multi-entity reporting.
  • Advanced knowledge of IFRS, Tax, and VAT.
  • Experience with accounting systems; Sage X3 experience advantageous.
  • Strong command of MS Excel and financial reporting tools.
