1. Overview

Our client is a Johannesburg based player in the renewable energy sector is seeking a Finance Manager to oversee financial planning, analysis, reporting, compliance, and tax functions across its energy business. This role consolidates and challenges financial data from various subsidiaries, supports treasury functions, and ensures compliance with IFRS and tax regulations. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives on technical complexity, takes pride in high-integrity reporting, and is ready to commit to a long-term finance leadership journey within a dynamic and evolving environment. 2. What You’ll Do

  • Oversee preparation and consolidation of detailed forecasts and budgets aligned to business objectives
  • Review financial models and challenge the integrity of data to support strategic decisions
  • Lead the preparation of internal and external financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to support investment performance and business optimisation
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with IFRS, Companies Act, and regulatory standards
  • Drive implementation of updated or new accounting standards across the group
  • Coordinate internal and external audit processes and resolve audit queries
  • Develop and implement financial governance policies and risk controls
  • Oversee tax advisory, ensure compliance with evolving tax legislation, and manage optimal group structure
  • Lead cash flow planning and treasury coordination in collaboration with group treasury
  • Provide finance support to operations, business development, M&A and project teams
  • Serve as the finance interface between the energy group and the parent company
  • Engage with local and international financial institutions, tax advisors, and auditors

3. What We’re Looking For

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) with SAICA membership (Essential)
  • Minimum of 10 years’ relevant financial/accounting experience, including completed articles
  • Proven expertise in IFRS, technical accounting, and financial reporting within complex group structures
  • Renewable energy experience (PPA's) and knowledge of project financing principles (Essential)
  • Strong, enquiring mind with the confidence to challenge assumptions and influence decisions with sound reasoning
  • Long-term career orientation — not a short-term path to CFO
  • High level of autonomy, initiative, and accountability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems
  • Certificate of Fitness (will be required to be done and passed)
  • Listed entity experience and membership in an additional professional body (Desirable but not essential)
