Overview:

We are looking for a Civil Engineer to join an esteemed IPP based in Cape Town. This role is permanent and will require travel to site.

The Civil Engineer supports the Lead Civil Engineer in the management of the internal civil engineering processes, external civil engineering consultants and all civil aspects of the renewable energy projects during the development, transactions, and execution phases of projects.

Civil engineering aspects of the renewable energy projects includes geotechnical engineering, roads, stormwater, foundation design and structural aspects.

Minimum Requirements:

• BSc Civil Engineering / B Eng (Civil) / National Diploma (NDip) Civil Engineering
• 3 years’ experience in infrastructure projects including a minimum of:

• • 1 years’ experience in renewable energy projects (design or construction)
  • 1 years’ experience in civil engineering design
  • 1 years’ experience in civil construction

Responsibilities:

• Preparation of civil designs, drawings, layouts for renewable energy projects during development and transaction phases of all projects
• Procure & appoint civil design consultant including, if applicable, LIDAR, Topographical, Geotech investigations and hydrology/stormwater consultants
• Liaise with any external civil engineering consultants working on renewable energy projects
• Assistance to civil site supervisors and construction managers for site civil activities
• Ensuring that the designs and installations meet the client's requirements and all the relevant safety regulations
• Producing bid deliverables relating to civil works
• The compilation of technical civil specifications
• The compilation of cost estimates for financial model purposes for civil works
• The compilation of RFP / RFQ documents (drawings, specifications, returnable documents) for civil or BoP contractors
• Technical evaluation and negotiations with EPC Contractors
• Support to Project Engineers during execution phase of projects and at times taking on the Project Engineers role (see Project Engineer job specification)
• The review of detailed AFC civil designs produced by external consultants / contractors
• The overarching responsibility of all engineering team members is to contribute to the winning of projects, achieving financial close for the projects and executing the projects to achieve COD and facility acceptance within budget and within the required timelines.
