Overview
Join an EPC working on the Oasis Project, a large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) initiative comprising three sites in South Africa:
- Oasis Mookodi: 77 MW capacity with 308 MWh storage.
- Oasis Aggeneis: 77 MW capacity with 308 MWh storage.
- Oasis Nieuwehoop: 103 MW capacity with 412 MWh storage.
This role is based in Johannesburg and involves significant travel to these project sites as needed. The position is a 1-year contract with the possibility of renewal, offering valuable experience in the expanding BESS sector, beneficial for career advancement.
What You'll Do
As an Environmental Engineer, you will:
- Ensure the project complies with all environmental requirements outlined in:
- The Employer’s Environmental, Health, Safety, Security, and Social Specification.
- The Environmental Management Programme (EMPr).
- Applicable consents and legal frameworks.
- Conduct internal and external audits, routine inspections, and reporting as required by the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and the contract.
- Manage and investigate environmental incidents, ensuring timely close-out and compliance with contractual obligations.
What We're Looking For
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Environmental Management or a related field.
- Familiarity with South African environmental legislative frameworks.
- 4-6 years of professional experience on construction projects of similar scale.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong auditing and compliance expertise.
- Proficient in incident management and reporting processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and adapt to dynamic project environments.
