ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH & SAFETY CO-ORDINATOR
01. Role Overview

TherolegivesoperationalandadministrativesupporttotheSeniorEHSManagerandtheEnvironmental Supervisor,andkeepstheEHSfunctionrunningdaytoday.Italsocarriesavisiblepartinbuildingsafety awareness and participation across the business.
Location: Cape Town. Hybrid, approximately 70 percent office and 30 percent site. Full time, permanent.
02. What You Will Do
Maintain EHS documentation, records and document control for the function.
Keep trackers and action lists current, including the contractor EHS action tracker, and follow actions through with the Senior EHS Manager, the Environmental Supervisor and contractors until they are closed out.
Check that service providers deliver against their service level agreements on time.
Support budget tracking, variation orders, the out of budget process, and the receipt and processing of invoices.
Carry the information flow across the function: meeting support, coordination and liaison between the EHS team, site and contractors.
Schedule, prepare for and attend the monthly and bi-annual SHE audits.
Support the handling of licences, permits, authorisations and non-conformance reports.
Support implementation of the approved environmental and social management system.
Support the Construction Manager on site, including HSE meetings with contractors, with accurate minutes recorded.
Facilitate and take part in Health and Safety Committee meetings, record the minutes and track the actions.
Act as a point of reference on health and safety, giving guidance and support to management and employees, and communicating company values and objectives on site.
Coordinate the collection and reporting of contractor HSE statistics weekly, monthly and quarterly with the Senior EHS Manager.
Coordinate EHS audits with consultants and contractors and see findings reported and closed out.
Support internal team reporting and the preparation of external reporting to lenders.
Report unsafe acts and unsafe conditions to the principal contractor site managers and to the contractors.
03. What We're Looking For
Essential
Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental management or a related field of study.
Registration with the SACPCMP as a Construction Health and Safety Officer. This is mandatory.
Minimum 2 years in a dedicated EHS administrator, co-ordinator or safety officer role.
Knowledge of EHS regulations and an understanding of environmental, health and safety systems.
Strong administrative and co-ordination skills, with sound report writing technique.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Valid driver's license.
Advantageous
Construction or renewable energy industry experience.
Knowledge of IFC standards.
Understanding of the construction permitting process.
