Job Description

Overview

An international renewable energy independent power producer is seeking a Senior Asset Manager to oversee a cluster of three utility-scale assets that are in the process of coming online.

The role is engineering-led, with responsibility for managing the transition from construction into operations and ensuring the assets deliver long-term optimal performance.

While financially accountable for profit and loss, the emphasis is on financial oversight rather than technical modelling, supported by in-house Finance specialists.

The position reports directly to the Chief Asset Operations Officer and functionally to the SPV Boards, requiring strong board-level exposure and the authority to act on behalf of the SPVs.

What You’ll Do

  • Take accountability for the asset management of three new-build renewable assets, ensuring smooth transition from construction into full operations.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional project teams (technical, HSE, legal, finance, sustainability) without direct line management authority, driving collaboration and performance improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual and regulatory obligations, including PPAs, O&M agreements, leases, financing agreements, and risk management frameworks.
  • Oversee P&L performance for the cluster, including budget approval, cost control, and variance analysis, with the ability to call on Finance specialists for detailed technical support.
  • Prepare and present regular board packs, reports, and performance updates to the SPV Boards, ensuring transparency and alignment with governance requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate operational and technical risks, particularly during the commissioning and early operational stages, ensuring compliance with HSE standards and driving initiatives to improve safety and environmental performance.
  • Support optimisation initiatives, plant upgrades, and cost reduction measures to maximise asset value once in operation.
  • Manage key stakeholder relationships, including off-takers, regulators, landowners, shareholders, and contractors, representing the company’s interests at the highest level.
  • Apply lessons learned from development and construction phases to strengthen future project performance and operational readiness.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong asset management experience in renewable energy, ideally within utility-scale wind, solar, or BESS projects.
  • Around 10 years of relevant work experience in engineering, asset operations, or project management.
  • Proven track record of reporting into Boards, preparing board packs, and engaging at a senior governance level.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (required); postgraduate qualification advantageous.
  • Solid understanding of profit and loss, budgeting, and cost oversight, with the ability to interpret financial reports and ensure compliance with approved budgets.
  • Strong technical and operational knowledge, with experience bridging construction to operations and ensuring successful handover.
  • Familiarity with contractual and regulatory frameworks governing renewable energy projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams through influence and collaboration.

What We Offer

  • Responsibility for a cluster of three assets, with board-facing authority and Power of Attorney.
  • Exposure to high-profile renewable energy projects at the critical transition from construction into operations.
  • A hybrid work model with site visits, Board interactions, and collaboration across technical and commercial functions.
  • Opportunity to play a key role in establishing and driving the long-term profitability of new utility-scale renewable assets.
