IMS Coordinator
Location: Cape Town
Job Type: Permanent, full-time, office based. Travel to project sites across South Africa and Africa may be required from time to time, based on project needs.
Overview
Our client is an Independent Power Producer focused on renewable energy projects across Africa is seeking an IMS Coordinator. This role exists to capacitate the IMS team by administering, developing, and assuring the company's Integrated Management System (IMS) and project-specific Environmental and Social Management Systems (ESMSs). The position will ensure compliance with international standards such as IFC Performance Standards and various ISO certifications. You will report to the IMS Specialist and play a key part in mitigating risks and driving continual improvement across all operations.
What You’ll Do:
- Administer and maintain the company's Integrated Management System (IMS).
- Conduct internal audits of the IMS and projects against ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 55001, and ESMS obligations.
- Manage external audits for project sites, focusing on environmental, health, safety, and social compliance.
- Develop, monitor, and report on the close-out of corrective action plans for identified non-conformances.
- Design and draft IMS components, including plans, process flows, procedures, and templates.
- Drive IMS implementation by providing capacity building and project-specific advice to internal teams.
- Participate in risk assessments and facilitate workshops to upskill colleagues on IMS standards and procedures.
- Manage the administration of outsourced service providers, including agreements, purchase orders, and invoices.
What We’re Looking For:
- Qualification in Risk Management, Environmental Management, Health and Safety Management, or a similar field.
- A minimum of 2–5 years of experience implementing environmental, health, safety, and/or social management systems.
- Direct experience with IFC Performance Standards and/or ISO-certified systems at both a corporate and project level.
- Proficiency in auditing and report writing.
- Experience in systems thinking and process documentation.
- Full professional proficiency in English (read, write, and speak).
