Duration: 3-5 year project
Overview
We’re looking for a seasoned professional with 15+ years of experience in South Africa’s
water infrastructure sector — someone who understands the nuances of long-standing
stakeholder relationships, is fluent in Afrikaans, and brings deep technical insight shaped
by years of hands-on delivery.
What You’ll Do
- Lead on-site construction activities for pump stations, coordinating between civil, mechanical, and E&I teams to ensure schedule and specification compliance.
- Oversee civil works including site clearance, construction of pump wells, control rooms, and ancillary structures to project specifications.
- Supervise mechanical installations, including centrifugal pumps, piping systems, valves, cranes, and HVAC systems for operational readiness.
- Manage the electrical, control, and instrumentation works such as high-voltage switchgear, SCADA integration, fire detection systems, and VSDs.
- Implement site-based safety protocols, conduct regular training and inspections, and proactively mitigate safety risks.
- Act as the liaison between construction teams, design consultants, project supervision teams, and client representatives; ensure clear communication and timely resolution of issues.
- Coordinate with community stakeholders to resolve disturbances and maintain positive local engagement.
- Maintain construction documentation, submit progress, quality, and safety reports, and archive technical records in line with company requirements.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 10 years of experience in construction and installation of mechanical and electrical equipment in bulk water pipeline projects, specifically pump stations.
- Fluency/First Language Afrikaans is a big advantage.
- Experience must include rotating equipment, pumps, related piping systems, HVAC installations, and commissioning.
- Exposure to electrical installations, including motors, VSDs, and electrical reticulation systems.
- Qualification in a relevant trade, or diploma/degree (NQF Level 6 or equivalent) in Construction Management or Engineering. Foreign qualifications must be SAQA-accredited.
- Professional registration with ECSA or SACPCMP (advantageous).
- Proven ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams on site and deliver technically complex pump station infrastructure.
- Willingness to be site-based in Limpopo for the duration of the project.
What We Offer
- The opportunity to be part of a landmark municipal water infrastructure project with tangible socio-economic impact.
- A challenging and rewarding site-based role with autonomy and strategic influence.
- Multicultural, high-performance team environment.
