Overview

We’re looking for a seasoned professional with 15+ years of experience in South Africa’s water infrastructure sector — someone who understands the nuances of long-standing stakeholder relationships, is fluent in Afrikaans, and brings deep technical insight shaped by years of hands-on delivery.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage on-site construction of river abstraction and dam works, ensuring effective team coordination and timely problem resolution.
  • Oversee civil works including site preparation, foundation treatment, and construction of reinforced concrete structures such as gravity weirs, pump stations, valve chambers, and retaining walls.
  • Lead mechanical installations, including design and assembly of hydraulic systems such as radial gates, hoists, and cranes.
  • Supervise electrical, control, and instrumentation installations including power supply, lighting, PLC-based control systems, and related automation infrastructure.
  • Enforce safety management systems, conduct regular safety training, and proactively eliminate risks through site inspections and hazard control.
  • Serve as a liaison with the design unit, owner’s team, and supervision consultants; report site progress and coordinate resolution of design or execution issues.
  • Engage with local community stakeholders to manage social impact and address construction-related disturbances.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, archive construction records, and submit regular reports on progress, quality, and safety compliance.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the construction of reinforced concrete structures associated with bulk water infrastructure such as pipelines, reservoirs, pump stations, and valve chambers.
  • Qualification in a relevant trade, or a diploma/degree (NQF Level 6 or equivalent) in Construction Management or Engineering. Foreign qualifications must be SAQA-accredited.
  • Professional registration with ECSA or SACPCMP (advantageous;).
  • Proven experience managing complex civil and mechanical construction sites in water infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with electrical and instrumentation systems related to waterworks operations.
  • Strong stakeholder communication and reporting capabilities.
  • Willingness to be site-based in Limpopo for the duration of the project.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to be part of a landmark municipal water infrastructure project with tangible socio-economic impact.
  • A challenging and rewarding site-based role with autonomy and strategic influence.
  • Multicultural, high-performance team environment.
