We’re looking for a seasoned professional with 15+ years of experience in South Africa’s water infrastructure sector — someone who understands the nuances of long-standing stakeholder relationships, is fluent in Afrikaans, and brings deep technical insight shaped by years of hands-on delivery.
What You’ll Do
- Manage the on-site construction of structural works, coordinating activities among various teams and resolving construction issues in real time.
- Supervise construction of reinforced concrete structures including reservoirs, chambers, and related water infrastructure components.
- Oversee material supply, site preparation, shuttering, rebar fixing, concrete works, and curing to meet structural specifications and timelines.
- Coordinate installation of supporting electrical and control systems, ensuring basic power supply and instrumentation are in place.
- Ensure integration and smooth interfaces with adjoining facilities such as pipelines, pump stations, or instrumentation chambers.
- Implement and maintain a site safety management system; conduct safety briefings, patrols, and hazard elimination routines.
- Serve as the point of contact for design consultants, supervision engineers, and project owners; address design queries and site instructions.
- Engage with local community stakeholders to manage disturbances and maintain constructive relationships.
- Compile, submit, and archive all relevant documentation related to construction progress, material compliance, quality assurance, and safety reporting.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the construction of reinforced concrete structures for bulk water systems such as pump stations, reservoirs, and valve chambers.
- Fluency/First Language Afrikaans is a big advantage.
- Qualification in a relevant trade, or a diploma/degree (NQF Level 6 or equivalent) in Construction Management or Engineering. Foreign qualifications must be SAQA-accredited.
- Professional registration with ECSA or SACPCMP (advantageous).
- Demonstrated ability to manage structural works with technical precision and timeline discipline.
- Proven experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and subcontractors on large-scale infrastructure sites.
- Solid knowledge of concrete design, formwork, rebar detailing, and quality assurance practices.
- Willingness to be site-based in Limpopo for the duration of the project.
What We Offer
- The opportunity to be part of a landmark municipal water infrastructure project with tangible socio-economic impact.
- A challenging and rewarding site-based role with autonomy and strategic influence.
- Multicultural, high-performance team environment.
