You are the contract point on the project.
You work with the legal team on preparing, reviewing and negotiating the contracts, you hold contractors to what they signed, and you pick up issues on site early so they do not turn into claims or delays. - Approve all contracts and contract-related material with the Legal Asset team.
- Put document control in place and work with the document controller to keep it followed.
- Make sure contractors, sub-contractors and third parties understand their roles and obligations under each contract.
Claims, costs and issues
- Investigate contract issues and address them quickly.
- Work with the legal team to find solutions to contractual issues.
- Prepare plans, budgets and timelines for claims.
- Deal with unexpected costs that come up under the contracts.
Site and project delivery
- Attend site meetings and management walk downs to track progress.
- Set up reporting for the client and Project Company management with the contractor's construction, commissioning and operations teams, project management and project services.
- Call meetings when needed to clear bottlenecks and keep the project moving.
- Raise risks on construction activities and QA/QC.
- Work with the owner's engineer on drawing status, technical questions and approval of contractor proposals.
- Support the independent engineer during visits and audits, and supply the information for their reports.
Stakeholders and meetings
- Act as the main contact on contracts for clients, site managers and project managers.
- Meet clients on business and legal matters and feed back to the broader team.
- Work with technical and finance staff, sub-contractors, legal teams and client representatives.
- Report to the Project Director and the Legal Asset team, and support the EMO on contract matters.
- Take part in daily internal meetings, weekly progress meetings, and biweekly, monthly and quarterly meetings with contractors.
What We're Looking For
- A university degree in civil, mechanical or electrical engineering.
- A qualification in commercial and contracts management, or in construction law and dispute resolution.
- At least ten years in contracts management, including five years in a similar role, preferably in the power industry.
- Construction site experience. This is essential.
- A strong project management background.
- Strong negotiation skills, and a track record of resolving conflict and disputes.
- You lead and direct others, and you drive quality and safety on projects without compromise.
- You work well with people from all cultures and communicate clearly.
- Fluent English.
What We Offer
- An influential role across power projects through construction.
- A mix of office work and time on site.
- Top class company benefits - full medical aid (on a top tier plan), pension, risk benefits and a flexi benefit no one else in the industry offer.
