Overview

A renewable energy business operating wind assets in South Africa is seeking an Asset Manager to oversee the operational performance and compliance of two wind farm SPVs. The organisation forms part of a large international engineering and energy group with extensive experience in developing, constructing, and operating renewable energy projects globally. The group has a strong technical heritage, a significant track record in wind energy, and an established presence in South Africa’s utility‑scale renewable energy sector.

What you'll do

• Monitor generation performance, availability, and SCADA events.
• Interface with O&M teams, the site‑based operator, and contractors.
• Review maintenance reports, major component replacement plans, and incident investigations.
• Contribute to annual maintenance planning and performance reviews.
• Communicate with Eskom OCC/ROC regarding outages, alarms, curtailment, and grid events.
• Track and report on grid code compliance.
• Support investigations into plant performance deviations.
• Provide operational input for IPPO, NERSA, lender, and insurance reporting.
• Work with ED/SED and environmental consultants.
• Ensure compliance across O&M, land lease, insurance, PPAs, and related agreements.
• Manage reporting distributions in line with finance agreements, AMAs, PPAs, and IAs.
• Support social development programmes and project insurance activities.
• Contribute to annual budget deviation analysis.
• Prepare and deliver operational content for AGMs, board meetings, and shareholder engagements.
• Maintain SPV documentation, statutory records, and compliance registers.
• Coordinate with auditors on technical audits and insurance inspections.
• Act as primary contact for lenders, shareholders, contractors, landowners, advisors, and consultants.
• Manage escalations and support multi‑party coordination.
• Provide technical evaluations for new projects.
• Review design assumptions, grid layouts, and operational risk assessments.

What we're looking for

• Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
• 5+ years’ experience in operational asset management of renewable energy projects in South Africa.
• Practical understanding of Eskom grid operations and wind farm O&M.
• Experience with SCADA systems, reliability analysis, and performance KPIs.
• Strong stakeholder engagement capability, including experience in senior‑level industry interactions.
• Strong organisational, analytical, communication, and incident‑investigation skills.
• Willingness to travel.
