Overview

 

The Site Superintendent is responsible for site and construction management activities on renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, biomass, and hydro.

This role focuses specifically on Solar for this project.

The Site Superintendent will oversee contractors, ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations, and contribute to the successful execution of projects.

Project is based near Secunda and is a 2 year contract and is 330MW.

 

What You’ll Do

 

  • Supervise construction activities, ensuring adherence to client specifications, timelines, and costs.
  • Manage contractor performance and site compliance with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) frameworks, including the Equator Principles and IFC Standards.
  • Coordinate construction phases in collaboration with project teams, contractors, and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure site rules are implemented and enforced while leading by example.
  • Monitor construction schedules, report variances, and develop corrective action plans.
  • Conduct safety inspections and enforce health and safety regulations.
  • Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly site reports.
  • Oversee quality control procedures and verify “as-built” documentation.
  • Act as a liaison between Eskom, contractors, landowners, and community stakeholders.
  • Support project completion activities, including punch listing and commissioning handover.

 

What We’re Looking For

 

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering preferred, or a relevant engineering qualification with extensive applicable experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years as a Site Superintendent, preferably in renewable energy projects or at least energy/power.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to drive contractor performance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work in remote site conditions for the duration of the construction phase.
