An established renewable energy developer is seeking a commercially astute Senior Transactor to take projects from preferred bidder stage through to financial close. This role sits within the Transactions team and plays a pivotal part in structuring, negotiating, and closing complex renewable energy deals in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. The position demands strong financial modelling oversight, negotiation experience with lenders and off-takers, and the ability to manage multiple financial close workstreams simultaneously.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and coordinate all commercial, legal, and financial activities required to take renewable projects to financial close.
• Manage negotiations on deal terms with lenders, equity shareholders, and off-takers.
• Oversee project financial models from bid stage to financial close, ensuring accuracy and alignment with investment objectives.
• Develop and execute financial close strategies in conjunction with the Transactions Manager and Investment Director.
• Drive the due diligence process and manage related workflows across multi-disciplinary teams.
• Support internal credit approval processes, from early-stage review through to sign-off.
• Collaborate with legal, finance, and technical departments to ensure alignment of project deliverables and timelines.
• Provide input into project structuring and commercial strategies to optimise bankability.
• Support acquisition and divestment opportunities as directed by the Investment Director.
• Assist in the negotiation of PPAs and related project agreements during bid evaluation stages.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, or Business (MBA advantageous).
• Minimum of 6 years’ experience in renewable project finance, banking, or related infrastructure transaction environments.
• Proven track record leading project financial close processes within large-scale renewable or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of project finance modelling, legal frameworks, and commercial deal structuring.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams and engage confidently with lenders, advisors, and project stakeholders.
• Excellent command of English, both written and verbal.

Overview

A leading international energy developer and operator is seeking a strategic and operational leader to head up its Operations & Maintenance (O&M) division. With a growing footprint of renewable and low-carbon assets across South and Sub-Saharan Africa—including wind, solar, and battery storage—the company is transitioning from outsourced BoP O&M to a high-performing internal service model. This Head of O&M role is critical to driving excellence in asset performance, regulatory compliance, and safety, while embedding operational best practice and scalability in line with ambitious growth targets.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the transition from outsourced to internalised BoP O&M service delivery.
• Establish systems, teams, tools (CMMS, monitoring, etc.), and processes for a new O&M entity.
• Oversee preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance across operational sites.
• Drive performance KPIs such as availability, reliability, and downtime response.
• Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation and fulfilment of legal appointments (e.g., 16.2).
• Participate in HSE audits, inspections, and risk assessments while promoting a proactive safety culture.
• Manage, mentor, and build capacity of Plant Managers, Supervisors, and broader O&M teams.
• Oversee O&M budget planning and control, including tooling, spares, consumables, and labour.
• Hold full P&L responsibility for the O&M entity, including commercial claims and contract management.
• Engage with stakeholders including SPVs, landowners, local authorities, and the Grid Operator.
• Advise project and development teams on operability, commissioning, hazard identification, and design feedback.
• Coordinate readiness-to-operate (RTO) activities including documentation handover, team training, and operational preparation.
• Interface with internal teams across Legal, Finance, HSE, Grid Engineering, Development, Construction, and Asset Management.
• Ensure standardisation of O&M practices and continuous improvement across all operational sites.
• Liaise with global peers to access technical support and share best practices.

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years of experience, with at least 7 in O&M for utility-scale energy infrastructure (e.g., substations, overhead lines, BoP).
• Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership or people management role.
• Demonstrated success in managing cost, risk, and delivery of large-scale infrastructure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience in renewable energy (especially wind and solar) strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with ISO standards, South African HSE legislation, and regulatory interfaces (NERSA, Eskom).
• Strong knowledge of contract and claims management, procurement, and technical-commercial documentation.
• Excellent Microsoft Office and CMMS proficiency.
• Driver’s licence and willingness to travel to sites.

What You’ll Do

• Design and manage the procurement roadmap from requirements definition to EPC/OEM contract award.
• Lead and manage EPC and equipment supply RFPs for Wind, Solar PV, and BESS projects.
• Structure, negotiate, and finalise EPC contracts in line with industry standards, timelines, and budgetary goals.
• Coordinate RFP kick-off workshops, gather cross-functional inputs, and prepare all solicitation documents.
• Define and apply transparent, measurable bid evaluation criteria in collaboration with engineers and stakeholders.
• Facilitate bidder queries, oversee clarifications, and manage both technical and commercial adjudication.
• Conduct comparative bid analysis, shortlist contractors, and negotiate final contract terms.
• Identify, qualify, and maintain a database of EPC contractors, OEMs, and technical service providers.
• Build and manage ongoing supplier relationships, ensuring performance alignment and strategic engagement.
• Maintain a central repository of procurement records for audit and compliance purposes.
• Hand over complete procurement documentation to construction teams post-award.
• Develop and maintain pricing benchmarks to support future negotiations.
• Monitor contractor performance during execution, integrating lessons learned into future procurement processes.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
• 5–10 years’ experience managing procurement for power-generation or renewable energy projects.
• Proven track record in leading complex EPC procurement and contract negotiations.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Proficiency in project management and procurement software tools.
• In-depth understanding of applicable legislation, corporate policies, and industry standards.
• Analytical skills to assess market trends and supplier performance.
