Overview
A South African IPP, based in Cape Town, with an enviable culture is seeking a Procurement Specialist to support utility-scale solar, wind, hydro, and battery storage projects.
The role exists to manage procurement activities across the full project lifecycle, ensuring compliance, cost efficiency, and delivery against internal governance standards.
You will work alongside engineering, legal, finance, and project execution teams to secure high-quality services and equipment for multi-technology projects in South and East Africa.
What You’ll Do
- Manage procurement activities for designated workstreams across solar, wind, hydro, and BESS projects.
- Coordinate supplier identification, shortlisting, and evaluation in line with internal procurement policies and governance requirements.
- Drive competitive RFQ and tender processes, ensuring transparent evaluation and recommendation of preferred suppliers.
- Support commercial negotiations, drafting of contractual terms, and finalisation of procurement packages.
- Maintain accurate procurement documentation, audit trails, and compliance records for all sourcing activities.
- Engage cross-functional teams (Engineering, Finance, Legal, HSE, Construction) to consolidate technical and commercial inputs.
- Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules, and adherence to contract obligations.
- Promote ethical, sustainable procurement practices aligned with corporate social responsibility objectives.
- Contribute to cost-saving initiatives, supply-chain optimisation, and continuous improvement within the procurement function.
- Ensure that all procurement activities comply with internal procedures, quality standards, and external regulatory requirements.
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years procurement experience within infrastructure, EPC, or renewable-energy projects.
- Demonstrated experience running RFQs, tenders, supplier evaluations, and commercial negotiations.
- Exposure to procurement for solar, wind, hydro, or BESS technologies.
- Strong capability in drafting, reviewing, and administering contracts and procurement packages.
- Familiarity with supplier management, performance tracking, and compliance systems.
- Ability to work across multiple stakeholders and consolidate inputs from technical and commercial teams.
- Experience operating within formal procurement policies, governance frameworks, and audit environments.
- Proficiency in MS Office and procurement-related systems or tools.
