Overview

A leading South African IPP, based in Cape Town is recruiting an M&A Manager to support primary and secondary transactions across its growing portfolio of renewable-energy assets.

This role exists to lead commercial negotiations, manage transaction execution, and drive financial close alongside the Investments Director and Head of Transactions.

The environment is highly collaborative, team-focused, and fast-moving, with strong alignment between technical, legal, and financial workstreams.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Lead commercial negotiations and close-out of primary and secondary transactions, working closely with Legal and internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare, review, and finalise legal agreements relevant to transaction execution.
  • Support commercial decision-making to advance deals while maintaining alignment with organisational objectives.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement the Financial Close strategy with the Investments Director and Head of Transactions.
  • Manage Financial Close workstreams and ensure all timelines and deliverables are met across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Oversee and review financial models from bid stage to financial close, supported by modelling specialists.
  • Lead and coordinate the full due-diligence process with internal transactors and external advisors.
  • Support the structuring of project transactions in collaboration with senior investment leads.
  • Engage internal departments to ensure seamless alignment and delivery of transaction requirements.
  • Support credit approval processes from early-stage review through to final internal and external approvals.
  • Contribute to evaluating and executing secondary market acquisitions and divestment opportunities.
  • Participate in PPA negotiations during tender evaluation stages, supported by senior transaction leadership.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, or Business.
  • MBA advantageous.
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in renewable-energy project finance and/or banking and finance.
  • Strong exposure to transaction execution, commercial negotiation, financial models, and due-diligence processes.
  • Proven experience managing Financial Close workstreams in large-scale infrastructure or energy projects.
  • Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams and manage complex deal timelines.
